The President’s Corner
What a wonderful experience these last two years as president of the club has been!
I thank each and every one of our members for giving me the opportunity to serve you.
The support I received from the officers was just fantastic! What a team Roger, Jutka,
Lajos, Teri, Joan, Ildiko, Pityu, Attila, Rose, Tibor, Peti and Albert made! I couldn’t have asked for more cooperation from angels!
Isolated as New Mexico is from the rest of the country, to say nothing of our distance from our ancestral home, the connection to other Magyars is so important to us, and the camaraderie and brotherhood we offer one another even more necessary. That is why I am thrilled to welcome a new slate of candidates for the officerships. I know that fresh winds will reenergize us, and that the new faces have behind them the intelligence and ability to continue leading and strengthening the club. All of us are volunteers to whom the preservation of our Magyar culture is paramount in our efforts.
We are leaving the finances of the club in a healthy condition, with a balance of over $2,000; the newsletter has been published on a regular quarterly basis, and our fantastic new website has already found us several new members. All of the past officers pledge to continue to help and support the club in any way we can.
On March 6 we will be renewing our annual memberships, with no change in the fees. We are enclosing a self-addressed envelope for your convenience. Please take the time to update your personal information on the attached renewal form, and enclose your check in advance. If that does not work for you, it will be gladly accepted at the door. And don’t forget to mark your calendars for our annual picnic at the Kiwanis shelter of the Elena Gallegos Park on May 22! It promises to be a fun event!
